Have you ever heard about AdSense Exchange Services? If you have then you may have been tempted to try them to boost your Adsense sales. DON’T DO IT!! How do they work? Well the readers digest version is “You click on my AdSense ads, and I click yours!” (Obviously with the intent of earning more revenue!)

I’m not even going to mention any company names here, that’s how much contempt I hold them in! And why? Because it’s illegal! How strongly can I word this. If you want your Adsense account to be shut down FOREVER, then go right ahead and try these exchange services …

Using Google Adsense honestly

Google is not daft! You surely don’t think that a company with their resources hasn’t found a way to track these types of services? Have a go, get some clicks, smile as you see the earnings leap then weep when a few days later an e-mail comes from the AdSense team to say that your AdSense account has been closed for fraudulent clicks.

And don’t think that it’s limited to Google either! Other networks, such as PPC RevenuePilot, are on the ball too! They may not close the account, instead they’ll slash your earning per click to mere cents if anything even if it just looks suspicious!

So to wrap up … there are no short cuts, (only ones that have a legal team knocking on your door!) So apply yourself. Make small adjustments in your Adsense ads, test & retest. See what others in the field are doing and emulate them … in other words … do it right, get it right and earn! Don’t be naive; think long term, NOT short term!

Read Your Prospects MInd and WIN!

If you already use Google AdSense on your pages you obviously feel the need to somehow even more traffic to your website, which in turn would lead to more AdSense click and a higher income.

But how to do it? Well, the greatest way to get your visitors to see, which (with the exception of AdWords, which I’m going to do soon too!), is the use of certain techniques to have search engines send more and more users on your site, by the high ranking in the search for your topics of interest.This is a technique, better known as search engine optimization or simply SEO. Here are some tips that virtually any amateur or professional should put in their optimizer’s tool-belt.

The first thing you need to ensure that is the actual source code and layout of your page is as simple as possible. The problem is when AdSense and the search engines themselves begin to have problems in the extraction of relevant keywords on your page because of a too complex layout or code, or worse .. just messy code from cutting and pasting and butchering other sites together to make your own! (Yes it goes on!)

Secondly, try each of your pages or posts on a particular topic. In this way, it is much easier for them to properly indexed and for the AdSense ads to be in accordance with the content of the page itself.

Next, try to avoid too many hyperlinks on your page and don’t put too many AdSense ads on your page either. People will know them for what they are, (ads screaming BUY! BUY!), and avoid them like the plague!

Forthly; are there certain keywords you wish to target, make sure the word you want to target is in the title, in the first paragraphs, and in the name of the file, (if appropriate).

And of course, it is very important for your content to be original content. How do you generate it? Well, the easiest way to do it is to find something you’re really passionate about. In this way, you can right in an informed way. Even if it’s a relatively new topic or area for you, if you’re passionate about it you’ll be willing to learn and employ your new knowledge as you go on! (That’s very much what I’m doing now!)I find that as I’m passionate about marketing online that I don’t mind the learning curve and I tend to then write fresh content about what I learn that hopefully you the reader will enjoy!

If the contents of your site is in the public sector, (which I’d use as little of as possible), make sure you credit and reference the original author and if appropriate, get permission first, (although most article authors will thank you for the opportunity to be on your site if it’s relevant to their business!)

It takes a little while for your article to have an impact on search engine returns but if, after a reasonable waiting period, you still can’t find your page near the top of the searches then you should try rewriting your title and your first and last paragraph. It does not take much, often just changing a few words will give you the right results and test and hone your keywords! This is the vital thing to do, (but don’t saturate your article with it!)

If you need some help with basic keyword research I would suggest starting with Google’s own Keyword tool but if you need a much more
sophisticated keyword and code generator to DRAG money into your account then you really can’t do better than Chuck Mullaney’s KeywordESP! And if you have the best product in the world it doesn’t mean squat because without traffic you’re dead in the water. And you need targeted traffic to get the best results. Anyway, this is where Chuck comes in.

He’s giving away some killer content on how to generate a boatload oftargeted traffic to your offers. In fact, one of his students had an increase of over 500% in just 2 days! This is some amazing stuff. Seriously .. Go check it out HERE. I already own it and have been amazed and how useful it is and NOT just hyped up rubbish! It’s a brilliant way to use a modern SOE Keyword tool to drive traffic to your site! Anyway enough for now ..

Money in the Bank

Its very important for a rapid adoption of AdSense that its very easy for publishers to get Ads on your site as soon as possible. The integration of AdSense on your site takes just a few minutes, and you can be on your way with one or more well integrated AdSense ads.

The first thing we need to do is to navigate Google Adsense.  Log in to apply for an account and password, (assuming you dont have one). There follows a description of the page Google AdSense Terms you must agree to continue.

Next page is a one that shows you about the details of how your AdSense account and the best way to go about generating your advertising. At the top of the page also links to the configuration where you can enter the code that must be inserted on your site that generate the AdSense banners.

You can use AdSense for text (ads) and a with a search box or instructions. Finally, a “My Account” tab that allows you to set details for that account, payments and Tax Information. To add a text ad on your site, return to the ‘AdSense Setup’ in the tab-click “AdSense for Content” link. Make sure you have cookies enabled.

You can make a choice between ads and link blocks. The former contains, or text and images in connection with a determined for each location, the master with a detailed description, the latter only links to specific types.

Of course, it’s a bit difficult to know which type you should use, so you should experiment with both for a time to decide. The next step is the choice of form and color adding. Basically you can use any color you want and Google offers some of its. This is an important stage. Dont discount it thinking colour isnt important!

As a graphic designer I see the importance of colur everyday in marketing and I cant emphahsis it enough! Whats important at a basic level is that you match the coloures as much as possible to two or three of the most dominant colurs on your website site or even if you want to get really particular, on each page if theyre so diverse. (The way to do this is to create a new ad for each page and colur accordingly with each ad generated)

However, their limited ad-format has a selection of one ounces formats. It’s an “Ad Formats” link which has to a page that allows you to everyone, including those in action, so you can decide that fits into a better place. Sometimes more intrusive die, no work best, but this can vary from place to place.

After the adjustment, you can click on “Go” at the bottom of the page. The fact that now with a section entitled “AdSense for Content. You can click on a portion of the text and shows that the JavaScript required to implement AdSense. This automatically selects the text in the Box.

Then you can also insert adjacent pages. If the dynamic pages to this Template code in your view is the end of every secure page on your site. Some Advertisers do not choose to AdSense on every page, and this is understandable. An example is a Company that is AdSense, may also be conditions that inevitably the legal means that is probably unsuitable.

What’s then left for you to do is to access your site. Google AdSense crawlers will soon visit your website, was that the ads that his ideas for your site Content. And there’s all done. For a simple page this should be a matter of Minutes and thatsthe choice of AdSense users. Although it is quick, its mass appeal works. Its incredibly popular and the choice of advertisers and publishers alike! Now Go get your slice of the pie!

Well I’ve got this site monetized at last! I’ve got two types on the site ..

1: The search feature is a customized Google search box that pays revenue if someone clicks on one of the results.

2: The main Goggle Ads themselves. They come in various “flavours” and are highly customisable! Currently I’ve got them on the top and bottom of the posts and pages, (as you’ll see!) I’m going to write a lot more about my experience of putting it together and up onto my site and I might even do a screen capture and let you see the process for yourselves .. Stay tuned  .. oh! Hello lovely reader! A few of you have asked me about RSS feeds and I was going to give you a terrribly long winded explanation but then I thought, “Mmmm? Someone’s bound to have made a video about this!” And sure enough after a quick rummage around “the cloud” I came across this … I do hope it helps but do feel free to ask any questions or better still … leave your comments … Enjoy!

Web 2.0 Even the name just sounds like a another excuse for a sales pitch! As you know I’ve been researching all sorts of ideas, blogs, sites, products etc. I’ve been trying to cut through all the dross to help you and me to find legitimate ways to establish & build an online business that’s relatively easy to monetize and maintain. So back to Web 2.0! I suppose I should attempt to define it before I go on.

Web 2.0 refers to what was perceived as a second generation of web design & development. It’s components include, but are not exclusive to:

• Communication
• Information sharing
• Defining Information
• Collaboration

This has lead to the evolution of web-based communities, such as facebook & MySpace, hosted services and even web applications. Can you remember a web without youtube, Google or any of the many other new Kings of the new web frontiers?

Darcy DiNucci  coined the term “Web 2.0″  in 1999. In her article “Fragmented Future,” she wrote “The Web we know now, which loads into a browser window in essentially static screenfuls, is only an embryo of the Web to come. The first glimmerings of Web 2.0 are beginning to appear, and we are just starting to see how that embryo might develop. … The Web will be understood not as screenfuls of text and graphics but as a transport mechanism, the ether through which interactivity happens. It will [...] appear on your computer screen, [...] on your TV set [...] your car dashboard [...] your cell phone [...] hand-held game machines [...] and maybe even your microwave.” When you think of it that was almost a prophetic insight into where the web was going as all of these areas have come to pass!

Most people in the know  associate the term “Web 2.0″ with Tim O’Reilly due to the O’Reilly Media Web 2.0 conference in 2004. According to Tim O’Reilly: “Web 2.0 is the business revolution in the computer industry caused by the move to the Internet as a platform, and an attempt to understand the rules for success on that new platform.” It has to be said that these guys are pretty much Ipso facto in defining 2.0 so I’ll put a link at the end of my article to their website that gives a very comprehensive explanation.

But before you disappear off there … have a look at this first. I’ve been encouraged by you dear reader to expand the look of the site a little so I’ve been out scurrying around the far corners of the web, (maybe I should say furthest reaches as I can’t imagine corners in a “cloud!”) And I’ve come across this great  site that’s selling a very large collection of 2.0 savvy Icons, Graphics, Opt-in Templates, Squeeze Page Templates, Video Templates, Website Templates, Buttons etc and all for a ridiculously low price! You’ll see some of them appear on my site over the next few weeks, but head on over there yourself and get it while it’s still available! And yes … I do get a affiliate commission from it but you can too when you buy it for yourself!

life doesn't have to be a blur

Linkbait has nothing to do with fishing, (well at least nothing to do
with our scaly, water-bound friends) but lots to do with bringing people
to your website using subjects of interest, emotional or psychological
triggers and knowledge to satisfy the info hungry!

So linkbait essentially is content that is specifically written to
either educate, entertain or inflame your readership or “prospective”
readers. These articles create what’s commonly referred to a net “Buzz”,
and this “Buzz” spreads virally from site to site and take the form of
links and comments that others make about what is written on your site.
These in turn are used by search engine algorithms to rank a website.
Get a high rank, you’ll get a higher listing, then you’ll get more
traffic to your site. More traffic = more buzz = more visitors. Linkbait
creation is “Nitro Marketing” your campaign!

If you have a specific keyword phrase, search engine optimized, linkbait
can be specific, relevant, authoritative content in a niche market.
Obviously content causes heavy discussion and sometimes a good argument
on a niche subject. Either way, linkbait articles attract more people to
your website.

Ok, so your content is supposed to generate links from other websites,
yeah?. That’s the aim. So, you’ll want people to love or loath your
article/post/rant enough to write about it on their website and post a
follow-up a link back to your site and page of where that content is.
Obviously there’s more to it but basically this is the beginnings of
viral marketing. The idea is that your visitors don’t just read your
material, but that they or the webmasters who find you are either riled
up enough to rant about your post or article on their website or love it
enough so that they quote loads of it! This can become a never-ending
source of links back to your site.

So what happen with backlinks or one-way links from other sites? Well,
the search engines keep a count of how many sites link back to your
website giving you some “love” and higher listings in their search
engines! An as I’ve already said this = more traffic to your website!
And we love traffic don’t we? I’ve seen his form of viral marketing used
successfully by many but I think many people are missing out on this
easy method to boost their natural search engine listings. (Natural;
meaning you don’t pay for it!) So let’s look at some variances on the
theme here:

Controversy: As I’ve already spoken about it let’s start here. Rant and
rave on something in a constructive but polar fashion and people will
love to stop by and dispute your view. There are those who advocate
being just plain negative about something or someone but I disagree with
this strategy VERY strongly. For one thing you could potentially end up
in a libellous situation and for another thing I think that there is
enough “bitchy” talk out there. It’s unprofessional and I believe that
you’ll stand out from the crowd if you can offer a constructive
opposition to something or someone’s point of view! Besides, who trusts
someone that you know will back-stab you the minute you’re not looking!

So a good, constructive and controversial argument will always yield a
ton of attention. Writing something that’s not popular opinion gets and
keeps readers who want to air their views on your views but remember if
you have started out with cruel lies they’ll just come back and bite
you!. It’s fair to say though that this kind of approach can draw a lot
of attention but consider your circumstances. Will this “type” of
attention fit what you’re trying to communicate?

Informational: (My current chosen format!) If you provide information
that educates and informs your readership, they will always come back
and refer to it, especially if you’re writing about a niche area! In
fact, writing consistently in an informational manner in one or more
niche areas will gradually build your reputation as an expert in that
field and that’s worth it’s weight in Gold! To get yourself started
google your Niche area and start researching it. Read articles on the
subject.

Draw some of your own conclusions, (yes it requires effort!), and start
writing about it even if it’s only a line or two initially! Save those
few lines and watch as they grow into great articles the more you read
and become informed yourself! This is the way I tend to write myself.
I’ll leave a text editor open when I read articles and ask myself basic
questions as I read. The usual prefaces are Who, What, Why and When? If
something stands out in an article I’ll ask myself questions about it;
for example, “How would that help me in my circumstances? What advantage
does this give me over my competitors? Why does he do it that way? Isn’t
there a more cost effective/quicker/slicker method?”, et cetera, et
cetera.

News: Keeping up with the breaking news on the web can build up quite a
following by readers & viewers who want to know, (in a Readers Digest
version), “What’s happening?” Don’t forget, this isn’t limited to
traditional forms of journalism so no, you don’t need a degree in it to
do it! Maybe you could specialise in one area, for example – in tech
news.

There are Gazzillions, (ok, maybe not that many but quite a few!), blog
and websites out there commented like crazy in this area but for me I
love Cali over at geekbrief.tv … Shiny happy tech news!
I’m an avid follower and that’s a relationship built on Cali and her
husband’s high standards in providing an excellently formatted show that
brings me a condensed tech news bubble! So what area can you develop?
Let me know, maybe I’ll end up following you!

Resource: One of the best forms of linkbait is building a resource list.
A good list will not only be indexed and listed, but will be passed by
word of mouth and links on other sites. (You’ll find resource lists on
some of my other posts btw) This helps to build your credibility
particularly if you have a niche area! Creating a niche specific list is
an invaluable resource for people and will win you loyal followers!

Here’s one great example of a resource type of linkbait.
seopedia.org It’s a blog filled with resources that draws a
constant flow of visitors. It has so much going for it. It’s an
excellent resource link site and really interesting too! Because of this
people quote it, refer to it, use and love it.

Humour: Funny stories, pictures or videos, cartoons and jokes are always
win over hearts and minds but please avoid tacky, sordid or smutty stuff
like the plaque! There’s enough filth on the net; stand out from the
crowd and find, collate or create your own fun! People love to laugh,
(there’s enough reason to want to, if we ever needed a reason, in
today’s economic melt down!) Here’s a couple that I’ve visited:

I know there are more categories, (please feel to add and contribute!!)
but even if you only remember one thing, remember this: – provide
quality content that is useful, interesting and entertaining. And if you
can stretch the old grey cells a little further remember this too:
deliver it in a professional style and manner and target it to your
audience as much as possible, making it as friendly for the search
engines as possible, and folks will find you. Of course you’ll need to
allow comments on your blog/site to allow traffic to begin to flow!

1. Find an Outdated Publication and Thoroughly Update it!

You could find a older or outdated publication and simply update it with new up-to-date information. Your up-to-date research added to a good idea is more valuable than you think. In todays markets information and methods are fluid, organic .. forever changing and those who keep on top of the changes quickly become the experts!

2. Tutorial Web Site, (choose your topic!), that’s Subscription based.

You could set up a paid membership web site where you have audio/video.screen capture recordings of lessons, demonstrations or interviews. You could add new ones every month. You could also give members access to live ones.

3. Turn Your Tutorial Web Site Content into a Into Home Study Course.

You’ve spent all that time and effort putting training online; how about packaging it into audio/video or ebooks/transcripts?

4. Turn You Publication Into A Sample.

Not ready to give away to much to early? How about taking an excerpt of your publication and use it to tempt people to buy the whole publication. It could be a free report, ebook, article etc. These types of publications could be made viral and spread all over the internet.

5. Case Studies Subscription Web Site.

You could set up a paid subscription web site where your offer case studies of how-to information. You would contact the people and ask if you could interview them in exchange for free publicity.

6. Product Review Subscription Web Site.

You could set up a paid membership web site where you review other business products and give your honest option about them. You would contact other businesses and ask them for their product for free to review in exchange for free publicity. You could also allow people to submit their products for review. (This is a great way of building trust into potential J.V partnerships!)
