ScreenCastsOnline is a weekly video podcast of computer based video tutorials. The video tutorials are in the form of “screencasts” which are videos of screen captures demonstrating a particular application, product or service, with a spoken commentary explaining what’s happening on the screen. It’s a really easy and brilliant way to learn all about new applications and how to get the most out of your Mac. The video tutorials cover many different topics from week to week but predominantly cover mac related subjects together with the latest web based services, but there are plenty of shows for mac and windows users!

ScreenCastsOnline is unique in that it is one of the very few non-US centric mac based podcasts! It’s hosted by Don McAllister from of the UK. The show has been running since August 2005 and to date has produced over 250+ screencasts.

As well as the free shows each week, Don also runs a membership scheme called ScreenCastsOnline Extra! You might want to check out all the Extra! goodies you get from a membership!

There’s now a special page just for new Mac users which takes you through all the shows you need to catch up on, presented in a logical order. This enables you to see which shows out of the 250+ screencasts will be most beneficial to get you up to speed really quickly. But please be aware that some of the older shows are only viewable by Extra! members but there are a number of free shows still viewable.

ScreenCastsOnline shows are recorded in Apples popular Quicktime format and will play both on and Mac computers. You can use either iTunes or Miro Player or any other video player that supports Quicktime to play the shows. You can even play them directly from the ScreenCastsOnline site by going to the “Tutorials” page.

Have you ever heard about AdSense Exchange Services? If you have then you may have been tempted to try them to boost your Adsense sales. DON’T DO IT!! How do they work? Well the readers digest version is “You click on my AdSense ads, and I click yours!” (Obviously with the intent of earning more revenue!)

I’m not even going to mention any company names here, that’s how much contempt I hold them in! And why? Because it’s illegal! How strongly can I word this. If you want your Adsense account to be shut down FOREVER, then go right ahead and try these exchange services …

Using Google Adsense honestly

Google is not daft! You surely don’t think that a company with their resources hasn’t found a way to track these types of services? Have a go, get some clicks, smile as you see the earnings leap then weep when a few days later an e-mail comes from the AdSense team to say that your AdSense account has been closed for fraudulent clicks.

And don’t think that it’s limited to Google either! Other networks, such as PPC RevenuePilot, are on the ball too! They may not close the account, instead they’ll slash your earning per click to mere cents if anything even if it just looks suspicious!

So to wrap up … there are no short cuts, (only ones that have a legal team knocking on your door!) So apply yourself. Make small adjustments in your Adsense ads, test & retest. See what others in the field are doing and emulate them … in other words … do it right, get it right and earn! Don’t be naive; think long term, NOT short term!

Read Your Prospects MInd and WIN!

If you already use Google AdSense on your pages you obviously feel the need to somehow even more traffic to your website, which in turn would lead to more AdSense click and a higher income.

But how to do it? Well, the greatest way to get your visitors to see, which (with the exception of AdWords, which I’m going to do soon too!), is the use of certain techniques to have search engines send more and more users on your site, by the high ranking in the search for your topics of interest.This is a technique, better known as search engine optimization or simply SEO. Here are some tips that virtually any amateur or professional should put in their optimizer’s tool-belt.

The first thing you need to ensure that is the actual source code and layout of your page is as simple as possible. The problem is when AdSense and the search engines themselves begin to have problems in the extraction of relevant keywords on your page because of a too complex layout or code, or worse .. just messy code from cutting and pasting and butchering other sites together to make your own! (Yes it goes on!)

Secondly, try each of your pages or posts on a particular topic. In this way, it is much easier for them to properly indexed and for the AdSense ads to be in accordance with the content of the page itself.

Next, try to avoid too many hyperlinks on your page and don’t put too many AdSense ads on your page either. People will know them for what they are, (ads screaming BUY! BUY!), and avoid them like the plague!

Forthly; are there certain keywords you wish to target, make sure the word you want to target is in the title, in the first paragraphs, and in the name of the file, (if appropriate).

And of course, it is very important for your content to be original content. How do you generate it? Well, the easiest way to do it is to find something you’re really passionate about. In this way, you can right in an informed way. Even if it’s a relatively new topic or area for you, if you’re passionate about it you’ll be willing to learn and employ your new knowledge as you go on! (That’s very much what I’m doing now!)I find that as I’m passionate about marketing online that I don’t mind the learning curve and I tend to then write fresh content about what I learn that hopefully you the reader will enjoy!

If the contents of your site is in the public sector, (which I’d use as little of as possible), make sure you credit and reference the original author and if appropriate, get permission first, (although most article authors will thank you for the opportunity to be on your site if it’s relevant to their business!)

It takes a little while for your article to have an impact on search engine returns but if, after a reasonable waiting period, you still can’t find your page near the top of the searches then you should try rewriting your title and your first and last paragraph. It does not take much, often just changing a few words will give you the right results and test and hone your keywords! This is the vital thing to do, (but don’t saturate your article with it!)

If you need some help with basic keyword research I would suggest starting with Google’s own Keyword tool but if you need a much more
sophisticated keyword and code generator to DRAG money into your account then you really can’t do better than Chuck Mullaney’s KeywordESP! And if you have the best product in the world it doesn’t mean squat because without traffic you’re dead in the water. And you need targeted traffic to get the best results. Anyway, this is where Chuck comes in.
